Second and enlarged edition of a general overview of the of the monetary system and biographies of all the Roman Emperors until Rudolf II, by Levinus Hulsius (ca. 1546-1606), a publisher, author, translator and compilation, mathematician, teacher and man of letters. A Calvinist born in Ghent, he fled Spanish persecution to Heidelberg, Frankenthal and Nürnberg where he had a wide-ranging career and published on many subjects. The work was first published in 1597 and soon followed by several other editions.
Binding slightly rubbed, slightly damaged at bottom of spine; with woodcut medal of Saint Peter stamped on title-page; a few slight stains. In good condition. VD17 12, 123740T (8 copies); for Hulsius: NBW X, cols. 273-288.
